Program: Family Caregiver Education And Family Support Groups - Newmarket - Eagle Street

Description of Services: Group program providing support to people who care for someone with a mental illness. Groups take place throughout the year and are offered virtually. Through participation in the group, participants will: - increase their understanding of mental illnesses, relevant medications and their side effects enabling them to make more informed decisions - reduce the stress they face through increased access to information, services, and a support network - meet other people in like situations for coaching, mentoring, brainstorming, problem resolution, and sharing; learn about stigma and its impact on recovery - develop a plan of action for self-care In addition to the education series, ethno-specific support groups are offered for Chinese speaking, Tamil speaking and Urdu speaking individuals.

Eligibility - Population(s) Served: Caregivers Only ; Families Only
Application: Please call for more information or to make a referral. Self-referrals are welcome. Telephone interpretation service available for all inquiries in more than 170 languages.
