Program: Mental Health Court Support Program

Organization: Canadian Mental Health Association (CMHA) Toronto Branch
Description of Services: In consultation with the court, this program diverts people with serious mental illness from the court system to mental health and community support services. The program also provides information and support to family and loved ones of mentally ill persons in conflict with the legal system. Clients are served through the Ontario Court of Justice: Metro West (Highway 400 and Finch Ave.) and Metro East (Scarborough) Courts.

Eligibility - Population(s) Served: Clients with Legal Issues Only
Application: Clients must have charges at the Toronto East or Toronto West courts. Participation in the program is voluntary and anyone may make a referral including accused persons, family and/or loved ones, service providers, lawyers, police and the courts. Referrals can be made by contacting respective programs directly by phone or in-person.
