Eligibility / Target Population
canadian citizen or permanent resident
of good moral character and habits
able to meet training and testing requirements
holds an ontario high school diploma or equivalent
medically and physically fit for duty
holds a valid G-class ontario driver’s licence with no more than six demerit points
able to follow all HRPS rules and complete required physical testing (PREP tests)

Description of Services:
Program is a volunteer initiative that supports community safety by assisting police officers with crime prevention activities, searches and public events throughout Halton Region
supports sworn officers on local crime prevention initiatives and patrols
participates in ground searches for lost or missing persons
volunteers at large-scale community events throughout the year
contributes to community well-being as part of a trained group of civilian volunteers established in 1989
Project Safeguard
Auxiliary Policing Services Unit provides Halton residents with free, year-round home security inspections to identify risks and recommend practical safety improvements
assesses exterior areas of the home for potential security vulnerabilities
provides a one-hour inspection conducted by an HRPS Auxiliary member
offers a written report with personalized recommendations to improve home security
